Christian Carto KO’ed in Devastating fashion for first professional loss

Well I suppose the kid was a little over hyped.

Last night, Christian Carto suffered his first defeat at the hands of journeyman Victor Ruiz at Raging Babe’s Philly Special. The second round knock out was as brutal as it was surprising.

After a round and a half of little to no action, Ruiz unloaded this quick left that sent Carto to the mat. Prior to this punch Ruiz had shown little power but great aggressiveness. The two were locked into a chess match, spending the first round feeling each other out.

But Ruiz was able to find some success in the 2nd round with his counter left. This punch was ultimately Carto’s downfall.

Carto remained on the mat for several minutes. It was a stiff reminder of how dangerous boxing can be. EMT’s rushed in to assist Carto who appeared to exhibit a fencing response while on the ground.

No word on Carto’s condition as of this moment but prayers go out to the kid and his family. We will keep you updated as we get information.
