Heavyweights Clash as Michael Hunter Takes On Fabio Maldonado

Michael Hunter vs Fabio Maldonado
World Boxing Association International Heavyweight Title
On Saturday, 25 May 2019, Michael Hunter (16-1-0 11 KOs) will take on Fabio Maldonado (26-1-0 25 KOs) at the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland. The heavyweight bout is scheduled for 10 rounds.
The bout is for the World Boxing Association International Heavyweight Title.
I’m always a fan of a good heavyweight fight. And this one sizes up to be a pretty good one.
Micheal Hunter is the reigning IBO Inter-Continental Heavyweight title (we won’t get into what these belts mean). His one loss is against Oleksandr Usyk, perhaps the best P4P fighter in the world. A lot of guys lose to Usyk, but Hunter lost with some class, lossing 117-110 x3 in his bid for the Cruiserweight title.
Hunter has great movement and skill. He dances around the ring like a Featherweight and uses his impressive hand speed to score at will. His defense is sometimes a suspect which could be a problem against Maldonado.
I’m not going to sell you on the idea that Maldonado is a great boxer in the heavyweight division. But he’s a tough guy that hits like a brick. He’s reaching the tail end of his career at 39 years old and lost his last 2 decisions. But make no mistake, Maldonado is a dangerous man in the ring.
The size difference (Hunter is a natural Cruiserweight) and Hunter’s susceptibility mean Maldonado could catch him with something big and turn the fight in his favor.
